Myopia Control
Myopia, or near-sightedness, is a progressive disease that causes blurry distance vision and requires visual correction in the form of glasses or contact lenses. It is often left unnoticed, especially in younger children who may not be able to communicate their less than optimal vision.
The prevalence of myopia is growing especially in school aged children and is caused by both genetic and environmental factors. Progressing myopia not only causes a need for stronger prescriptions, but also causes the eye to grow longer which increases the risk for eye diseases such as retinal detachment and glaucoma. Currently, there are myopia control therapies available which help to reduce the progression in children. We offer specialty glasses, soft contact lenses, orthokeratology and eye drop therapy which can help preserve your child’s vision.
